PBR-Yuengling Bread

So... we created this blog about a month ago and then proceeded to completely ignore it. This post is the start of me actually putting forth an effort to blog on a regular basis.  And I'm going to make Sam contribute, as well, since it was originally his idea.

Today I realized we've had a wounded soldier (opened but undrank can of beer) in our fridge for about the amount of time since we last posted on this blog.  And since our designated wounded soldier drinker isn't around  I decided it was time for some... BEER BREAD! And I used this recipe: http://honestfare.com/beer-bread-2/  But, I added some cinnamon to make it even tastier.

Here is my lovely selection of ingredients:

Two different beers aren't required but since the PBR was only half a can I filled it up with the Yuengling and then just drank the rest.  I don't mind getting my day drinking on. :)

Like most recipes I make, I encountered several problems with this one.  Problem #1: Does that look like a "large" bowl to you? No.  I don't know who in their right mind would see that as a large sized bowl... except for me.  This always happens to me.  I can never correctly judge the size of dishware needed.  Putting away leftovers in Tupperware is the WORST... ever.

Ahh, that is much better.  I knew it would be bad news if I added the rest of the ingredients to the smaller bowl, so I had to make the sacrifice of adding 1 extra dirty dish and make the switch.  I'm going to start using the biggest bowl I have for mixing EVERYTHING.  I'm even going to eat cereal out of it. Just kidding. But seriously.

Problem #2: No bread pan.  But that is easily fixed....
...with some foil and a few ceramic measuring cups!  Instantly this 7x11 in pan becomes a 7x6ish!  And since the pan specified in the recipe was 9x5 I figured around the same area created would be good enough.

And here's the finished product!  Just look at that fat beauty!  I guess I could have given it a little more room in the pan, but that just means a little more tasty goodness with each slice.  So, if you want to make a yeast-less bread or just need something to do with all those wounded soldiers left around from last night's shin-dig, give this recipe a try! Yummy!

Lemon Risotto

The lovely, artsy photo above is the delicious lemon risotto we made as one of our first actually thought-out dinners in out new apartment. Sam found the recipe here:

I would definitely recommend it! It would be awesome with something light, like an arugula salad. The only downside was that it stuck to the pan like a bitch. The skillet had to be scrubbed and re-seasoned after that one. That is one sad skillet.
